16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17And it shall come to pass in the last days , saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

Jer 46:10

10For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.

Isa 34:8

8For it is the day of the LORD 's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

From these scriptures, it is seen that the word ‘tribulation’ is used as persecution or distress, often aimed at God's people although all may be in distress, and at times aimed against the world such as when God judges. Be alert to how the word tribulation is used and aware that tribulation is guaranteed to God's people who suffer for the Word, learn obedience and are strengthened by it.

Also note that the Day of the Lord occurs which is a just response to an evil world during which the world is repaid in like kind. The world will be against Israel during the last war of the era, Gog and Magog, that culminates in the coming of the Messiah during the Day of the Lord, which ends the Gog Magog war with the final battle at Armageddon.
